Workspaces & Layouts¶
Layouts control how panels are arranged inside TrueFidelity. Knowing how to switch and reset layouts helps you move between design, monitoring, and analysis workflows quickly.
Layout Basics¶
- Docking – Drag a panel tab to the blue docking targets to move it to a new area.
- Tab groups – Drop one panel on another to create a tabbed stack.
- Resizing – Drag dividers to allocate more space to the panels you are actively using.
- Close panels – Click the tab close icon to hide a panel you do not need.
Switching Layouts¶
Use the View menu to switch between built-in layouts:
- System Design – Project Explorer, Toolbox, System Canvas, Properties.
- Monitoring – ECU Hardware Status, Resource Monitor, Task Monitor, ECU Console.
- ECU Monitoring – ECU-focused resource, task, and console views.
- Network Analysis – Signal Viewer, Network Traffic, Signal Chart.
- Debugging – Process and resource views with console output.
Layouts persist automatically between sessions. The last active layout is restored on launch.
When Layouts Switch Automatically¶
When you start a system, TrueFidelity may switch to a monitoring layout so you can see runtime status immediately. You can always return to System Design from the View menu.
Recommended Layout Use¶
System Design¶
- Keep Project Explorer, Toolbox, and Properties visible for fast edits.
- Open multiple diagrams as tabs in the canvas.
Monitoring¶
- Use ECU Hardware Status for a high-level overview.
- Keep ECU Console visible to catch runtime logs and errors.
Network Analysis¶
- Pair Signal Viewer and Signal Chart to explore decoded signals.
- Keep Network Traffic visible when validating payloads.
Debugging¶
- Use Process Monitor and Resource Monitor to identify high CPU or memory usage.
Resetting Layouts¶
If a panel is hidden or misplaced, use View → Reset Windows to restore the default layout.
Troubleshooting Layout Problems¶
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Panel is missing | Use View → Reset Windows and reopen the layout you want. |
| Panels feel cramped | Close unused panels or stack related panels into tab groups. |
| Layout changed unexpectedly | Switch back via View and continue working. |
